Sorry, but we cannot answer questions about family history. Sometimes the Bewcastle Heritage Society can help over the odd point of reference, but cannot do extensive reserach on your behalf. There is a new ancestral blog called Bewcastle Ancestry which might be of interest. Links to some family web sites can be found here.

We have put the basic details of grave inscriptions at St Cuthbert's, Bewcastle, online for your assistance. Click here.

Mike Jackson has carried out an enormous task in bringing together the monument inscriptions form the graveyard and transcribing the church registry to produce a valuable resource to all those researching their border roots.

A full description of each grave, together with a plan of the churchyard showing numbered graves, index of persons, index of places and miscellaneous index, is available on CD in Word, Rich Text and Adobe Acrobat format, for both PC and Macintosh, either to pick up in the church, or by post through our order form.

Mike has also transcribed from the official records all births, deaths and marriages from 1813 to 1916, plus marriage bonds from 1770 to 1824.

The cost is £20 Sterling for orders in the UK. Please use this order form
